Houston Cost of Living

Houston gives an amazing amount of bang for the buck when compared to other cities.
The fourth-largest city in the country is also one of the best bargains when it comes to cost of living.

Houston housing costs are 47 percent below the average for 23 metropolitan areas with populations of more than 2 million, according to the ACCRA Cost of Living Index for the fourth quarter of 2005. And Houston’s overall costs are 24 percent below the average for these large metros. In the broader context of nearly 300 urban areas in that survey, Houston’s housing costs are 23 percent below the average, and its overall living costs are 12 percent below the average. (more…)

Houston Things to Do

I am researching Houston, Texas and have found some great facts. I have lived in Houston twice before when I was younger and found it alright. These facts though tell me there is so much to do in Houston.

Here you go:
* Houston is the fourth most populous city in the nation (trailing only New York, Los Angeles and Chicago), and is the largest in the southern U.S. and Texas.
* Founded in 1836, the City of Houston has a population of 1.9 million.
* Houston metro area’s population of 4.8 million is 10th largest among U.S. metropolitan statistical areas.
* Houston has professional teams representing every major sport. (more…)

First Cruise

Filed under: Bahamas, Cruise, Travel, Vacation

I have been slow to post since before I left for my cruise. I need to catch you up on our cruise. It was awesome. The ship was nothing fancy and the food was just alright. Now I am used to great food since my wife is such a fantastic cook. We got some pretty decent pics that I will start posting soon.

The Carnival Elation is by no means fancy. For the price it is a good deal. So if you like quantity over quality this may be the ship for you.

We sailed out of Port Canaveral, then woke up at Nassau, Bahamas, the following day we woke up to Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. The third day we arrived at Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos. This was my favorite stop followed by Nassau. I was not impressed with the day at Half Moon Cay, but my wife was a tad sick, and I prefer people over private and this is a private Island owned by Carnival.

The final day of our trip was at sea on the way back to Port Canaveral. What a great short trip it was. It was great because we went with friends.

For my first cruise this was a success and I will be looking to go on more.
