Going on a cruise is something many people dream about. Entirely cut off from the day-to-day world, taking to the sea can be an ideal way to relax. But many people put off their dream cruise vacations until later in life because they don’t think it possible to take their kids along with them.
You may be happy to know that the cruise world is changing, with several companies making a special effort to ensure that families feel included, and that means planning a family cruise has never been easier.
If you’re planning a family cruise, the first thing you’ll want to decide on is a family friendly destination. Depending on your budget, you might want to consider cruising around the Mediterranean, where you can take time out to explore the remnants of ancient civilizations while your kids enjoy the calm blue waters and warm sunshine. A cruise in the Bahamas offers a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere where children will love learning about local customs and trying exotic food. And a classic Caribbean cruise has something for everyone, with a host of interesting places to visit and great weather for the kids to enjoy.
Carnival Cruise Lines, in particular, has a number of kid-friendly offerings. With more than 100,000 kids traveling on its ships each year, you can be certain there will be friends for your little ones to play with. Carnival has a have a busy program of events designed to keep kids of all ages entertained; they also offer a babysitting service and a ‘free play’ area full of toys (plus a video games room for older kids).

Bob Cooney: Sixers stand pat at trade deadline, but is roster good enough for 50 wins?
The trade deadline came and went yesterday, and the Sixers were a DNP MD (Did Not Play, Management Decision). Many fans are disgruntled that some type of move wasn’t made, whether it was dealing the biggest piece in Andre Iguodala or some other kind of package to bring in a big man or a shooter.

Which Hawaiian Island would be best for my family, and where can I get the cheapest vacation package?
Question by kiki 1113: Which Hawaiian Island would be best for my family, and where can I get the cheapest vacation package?
My family wants to go to Hawaii this summer, but we don’t know
which island would be best for US. Me, my mom, my grandma, my little sister, and my little brother are planning on going.
Ages:
Me= 13
Mom= 30
Grandma= 57
Sister= 10
Brother= 4
We would like to know which island to go to.
We are looking for the island that is most tropical, very natural beauty, beautiful waterfalls, etc. We also want to go to an island where there is nice snorkeling, and not very crowded.
We are also pretty short on money, so where can we go to get a cheap vacation package to go there. Including a flight there, hotel, and car.
Please help.
P.S. We are planning on going to only ONE island, not visiting all of them
Thank you.

I have been to Oahu and Maui on vacation before and will offer my suggestions. If you want a place that isn’t as crowded and has great snorkeling, I would definitely go with Maui. Oahu is very crowded.
It is very tropical and you can find some great waterfalls. You can also drive up to the top of Haleakala, which is the volcano there, and it is the most amazing sight and view you will ever see.
There are lots of snorkeling spots around the island, and you can also book snorkeling excursions that go along the coast and also to other islands for the day.
We got a cheap flight through Priceline.com. That was the best place for deals when we were looking. As for hotel, you can try different websites where people rent out their homes or timeshares. Especially with people taking fewer vacations now due to the economy, people who rent out vacation properties are giving deals.

Do I need a travel agent for my vacation? I guess it depends on your needs. Travel deals are available from many sources who have put together great vacation packages. Cheap travel has become an expectation, with vacation packages available all over the internet. Travel deals include cheap airline tickets, vacation packages and basically cheap travel any where in the world. When choosing any of the available travel deals you often wonder if a travel agent can provide cheap travel with any of the travel deals they have to offer.
A competent travel adviser can be your greatest asset when you’re planning a trip, and putting together travel deals for you to consider. I mean a bona fide, certified travel professional, a true travel agent. To say that a travel agent is important for your travel needs is not a popular position to take, I know. There is no shortage of travel agent stories making the rounds these days, most of them horrific in nature. There are stacks of grievances that follow the same basic narrative, cheap travel results in you get what you pay for, or do you? Most complaints about travel agents or advisors goes something like this:
I booked a trip through an online agency who had the best travel deals, cheap airline tickets and a great vacation package. Something went wrong, terribly wrong– my flight was rescheduled, my flight was over booked or there was a problem with the hotel reservation, like the reservation was never made,

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Purple Heart recipient 1st Lt. Brian Donarski’s Family was the first of many beneficiaries of “Raytheon’s 100 Nights for Wounded Warriors” at the Shades of Green.
Donarski, who was wounded during a combat mission in Iraq, was selected to represent the Army in the Pro-Am portion of the Children’s Miracle Network Classic PGA Tour event on Walt Disney World Resort’s Palm and Magnolia Golf Courses.
Thank to Raytheon’s gift, the entire Donarski family – and a few friends – got to attend the dream-come-true event. They even got to stay with Donarski in the same handicap-accessible hotel suite – the Warrior Suite – which comfortably sleeps 14 and overlooks the golf course, not far from the gates of the Magic Kingdom.
“The suite is like a home away from home,” Shades of Green Director of Sales and Marketing Kimberly LaTendresse said. “where folks can enjoy family time in the living room playing games or watching the flat screen TV. At Shades of Green, we have so many different activities— like the spa, pools and Family activities like the Kids Cookie Night and dive-in movies— Families can stay right here on the resort and have a great vacation."
Dozens of Families of Wounded Warriors will receive a complementary stay at the Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center operated by the Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command. Raytheon has paid in advance for 100 nights to be donated to Families of Wounded Warriors over the next year.
“The intended purpose of our donation is to show our support to active duty military, Families, retirees and Department of Defense civilians,” Raytheon Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Communications Pam Wickham wrote in a letter to Shades of Green General Manager Brian Japak. “Their willingness to sacrifice to build a better future for others and to preserve our way of life can never be repaid; however it is our hope this small gesture will show our deepest appreciation for all they do to support and protect our country.”
Shades of Green officials worked with the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa to select Wounded Warriors to stay in the suite.
"We coordinated with the social-work case managers from the hospital’s poly-trauma unit who are working with the Families going through treatment to put the offer out there," LaTendresse said in reference to the selection process for Raytheon’s 100 free nights. "The Families then contacted us directly, to coordinate their stay with us."
Shades of Green bases room rates on a sliding scale according to the sponsoring guest’s rank, making it an affordable way to enjoy a Disney vacation. Discount tickets to all nearby theme parks are also available in the resort lobby through the MWR Information, Tour and Travel office.
