Let the kids plan one day of your summer vacation, including the restaurants you will eat at, activities and the transportation you will need. Give them a budget and make them stick to it and let them make the choices: San Diego Zoo or SeaWorld, Disneyland or Six Flags Magic Mountain? A day at the beach or ATV’ing in the desert? Pizza or Chinese?

Have them compile all their information into a folder, just like a travel agent would do, with the schedule, prices and “brochures” that they can make themselves or find from the web or various other places.

This way everyone gets to enjoy the child-planned vacation day. With the kids happy, you can be happy!

Get travel magazines (new or old) that the kids can cut up, and travel sections from the newspaper. Download information from the Internet. They’ll need a folder and paper, scissors and glue for making the brochures.

Have fun with your family vacation and this way everyone is included taking some pressure off of you. You can just relav and go with it!
