Sunny, beautifulSydney is a city that ranks high on most vacation lists. It is beautiful, the streets are clean, the neighbourhoods are clean, the parks are very nice, the water in the huge harbour is blue, and the landmark buildings are breath taking. Sydney’s population is quickly approaching five million, but it is easy to leave the fast urban pace behind with just a simple ferry ride to the North Shore, enjoy a walk along the harbour beaches or take any of a number of daytrips to explore Australia. Just like its characteristic Opera House, Sydney seems to cruise effortlessly through nights and days filled with an abandance of entertainment opportunities, great shopping, museums, and beautiful beaches. Visitors find it hard to see it all, even though the tourist area where most of the interesting attractions are to be found is in quite a small area around the downtown waterfront and harbour area.

Another plus for visitors is that compared to most big cities Sydney offers excellent, reasonably priced food, accommodation and public transportation. The city has an excellent rail network, with its hub at the Circular Quay in the city center, and full use is made of the water with ferries and passenger boats taking you to and from various points.

Sydney is comfortable to visit during any time of the year, but unless you enjoy humidity, broken by the torrential downpour, keep away in the summer. Autumn is delightful, especially around March and April, with clear, warm days and mild nights. In Spring (September to November) there’s more chance of rain, but it usually clears quickly. Average temperatures are around 24°C (76°F), though it can get to over 40°C (105°F) in summer. Sydney enjoys over 300 days of sun a year making it a great vacation spot.
