Westin Edmonton
I am writing this review from the room of my Westin Edmonton hotel. This review will not be an entirely fair review since the hotel is deep into renovations.
Due to the front foyer being under construction it was hard to get in. It would have been nice to have someone directing traffic. Yes, it was that bad trying to get in to the Westin Edmonton. The parking was extremely poor as well, and that was not due to construction as far as I could tell.
They have some new rooms and some old rooms. Westin did not know that we were a reviewer (as we do not tell), we got stuck in an old room. I asked for a switch to a new room, but the front desk attendent said that they were full. This may be true but the hotel is extremely empty.
Our room at the Westin was worn out. There is no wonder why they are remodeling at this Westin. The carpet was somewhat dirty, the furniture beaten like an old Hotel 6.
We were told the information for the wireless internet and I signed on, then wondering if they were charging. There is nothing in the room that says they do, but being a Westin I thought that it may. So I called the Service Express hotline who said there is a charge of $10.95 plus GST. I then was transferred to the front desk who said not to worry about it there are no charges for internet on my account. The next morning I woke to the internet charges.
We woke early to hammers banging and the sound of drywallers. It was miserable. The hotel is in an extreme need of a remodel. It is good they are getting this facelift at this Westin Edmonton.
We may come back in the future and review it again. Although when we called the front desk to politely bring up the construction noises early in the morning they were not helpful and did not make me want to come back and review this again.
So, with the Westin Edmonton, make sure the remodel is done before you give this a shot. The world’s largest mall - West Edmonton Mall was good. It lacks a large selection of department stores, but the other 800 stores make up for it.
